The UIC’s site presents average ratings of programs on the basis of PPM-panel data of TNS Central Asia.

General principles: To present moment, several most interesting headings are chosen. The main criterion of selecting material for headings is the presence of great competition between producers of TV programs. The fight for ratings here takes place every day and every hour. To make objective comparison of the ratings it was decided to use common adult audience (All 18+) for all overviewed programs. Average ratings per week are used for comparison of ratings for everyday programs. For weekly programs (final weekly news, entertainment programs, humour) the ratings are taken for separate output, as far as within the period overviewed there can be no more than one program show. Feature films are compared as single broadcasting events, separately in prime and off time, as far as the ratings differ seriously one from other and general picture will be much clearer due to such division. Therewith, prime limits for overview are intentionally extended from 18:00 to 24:00, because many films commence before classic prime time (19:00), but in this case they are put over the main prime due to duration, and in second case they can commence closer to the end of classic prime (23:00).

Everyday news. The news are interesting with that, that these are mainly a product of local Kazakh production and overview of ratings reflects how the TV audience evaluates the level of professionalism of TV channels’ news teams. The comparison was made independently between final daily news and weekly analytical programs of the TV channels because these are close but nevertheless different genres of TV journalism. As far as the period overviewed is one week, then the comparison for daily news was made by average ratings of news programs per working days of a week.
